The lantern Tankard is a traditional design that has recently become very popular with craft ale drinkers and real ale enthusiasts. It is available from H G Stephenson, an independent, family run catering equipment supplier they knew that some of today’s craft ales are very strong and better suited to a smaller tankard.
Two-thirds of a pint seemed a good size. But how would it feel in the hand, how would it look and what shape should it be?
To answer these questions I built two CAD models of the tankards in Solid Works and printed one prototype from each of them using Nylon 12 PA Selective Laser Sintering.
I also made photo-realistic renders of the tankards.
